Children/Youth Ministry
Mount Olivet United Methodist Church offers many opportunities for children, pre-teens, and teens to not only worship and understand God’s word, but to also participate and be a part of our church family.
Children’s Time
During our Sunday 11:00am worship service, we devote a section of the service to the children and invite them to come listen to our Pastor share a special message…and often times they even get a special gift. The children also participate by helping with a special collection of “loose change.” In the past this offering has contributed to causes such as the Lord’s Pantry and the House of the Carpenter’s camp scholarships known as “camperships.”
Children’s Church
During the 11:00 am and Monday 7:00 pm services, those that are too old for the nursery are invited to participate in a lesson and activity that correlates to the message being delivered to the rest of the congregation. We have several experienced volunteers that lead these activities to ensure that the children are learning and enjoying God’s word as much as their parents.
Youth Group
Every other Sunday at 6:00 pm we hold our youth group meetings which last for about two hours. During this time, the youth learn about God and how it pertains to their lives as they grow into adulthood. The youth group has performed fundraisers, such as car washes and bake sales, and has offered teen dances at the church. Additionally, they have performed community service by serving lunch at a Habitat for Humanity project. To learn more, visit our youth group web page.
Youth-led Worship Service
A few times a year, our youth group organizes and leads a worship service. They plan and rehearse all aspects of the service and participate in each area. Some work as ushers, others read from the Bible and a few even prepare and deliver the sermon.
